43. THE PASTOR - Patrick Norris - Politics: Should Government Legislate Morality?

Welcome to Episode #43 of the Red Ink Revival Leadership Podcast. In today’s episode, “POLITICS: Should Government Legislate Morality?”, we look at various Bible texts to build our lens for political decision-making. This is part 2 of 2 from last week, a continuation of “Is Government Good or Evil?.”

We will answer the questions of… Should government LEGISLATE morality? Should government FORCE morality on anyone else? From “political theory,” is government supposed to be mostly “positive” (creating social benefits) or “negative” (protecting rights through civil justice)? Should government be big or small? In Romans chapter 13, civil servants are called ”ministers to you for good…” But, are all civil servants “good” and directly appointed by God? What about Hitler, Suddam Hussein, or Kim Jung Un? Also, what about defunding police, sanctuary cities, and/or gun rights? Then finally, was Jesus involved in politics? (You might be surprised!)

Where we fall on government structures, roles and their purposes actually does systematically impact our positions on policy. I do pray this episode will serve as a help to organize thoughts and ideas around your political opinions.
